My week in KDE: Hans and Fielding

Saturday, 11 June 2022 | Felipe Kinoshita

This week I mainly worked on Hans, a new little app, in fact, I’m writing this blog post using it!

Hans is a markdown editor, it support basic actions like creating and opening documents, saving, copy/paste and undo/redo.

In the bottom-right it shows how many characters and words the current document has as well as the estimated time it will take to read it.

And it also supports syntax highlighting for markdown and multiple windows!

If you’re comfortable using the commandline, there’s instructions on how to get a flatpak of Hans in its repository.

Fielding isn’t a new app but I never wrote about it before, it’s a barebones HTTP client, you can make GET, POST, PUT, PATCH and DELETE requests but nothing like custom headers or anything more complex yet.

Recently I’ve made it remember its window size and position and did some improvements to the codebase making it easier to maintain it in the future.

Contributions are Welcomed

If you’re interested in helping me with my little projects I would love any help, be it with code or with bug reporting.

Thank you for reading! :)
